Philips has released an update to its Hue smart bulbs that finally allows them to remain off following a power outage. Previously, all the Hue bulbs in your home would turn on when power was restored.

Out now, the long awaited option for your lights to return to their previous state when you experience a power loss. Go to "Power-on behavior" settings to configure. Let us know what you think!

The ability to customize power-on behavior is available via version 3.11 of the Hue app. You can download it from the App Store for free.

A selection of Philips Hue starter kits are currently on sale at Amazon.com. Check them out here.
