In a recent post, Coyle compares the keyboard click latency of AirPods 1, AirPods 2, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Pro 2. He found that the new AirPods Pro 2 offer a significant 41ms reduction in latency.
As you can see, the second-generation AirPods Pro perform about 40ms better than their predecessors, with an average latency of 126ms vs the original’s 167ms.
AirPods Pro 2 perform about 43ms worse than the device speaker itself which is measured at 83ms latency. Coyle suggests it may be easier for Apple to work towards reducing device-side latency in the future, rather than Bluetooth latency.
