BTstack GPS is a new application from Matthias Ringwald which allows you to connect an external Bluetooth GPS receiver to your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

BTstack GPS is based on BTstack, the open-source Bluetooth stack for iPhone OS.

BTstack cannot run in parallel to Apple's Bluetooth. Therefore, BTstack GPS has to turn off Apple's Bluetooth. You can re-enable Apple's only after quitting the GPS app.

You can download and purchase the application from the Big Boss Cydia Repository for $5. A demo version is available.

ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT WORK ON IPAD. In fact, it's terrible because Googlemaps doesn't even work with this app. Googlemaps and navigon at least works with roqyBT GPS but with this app, I got ripped off pretty bad seeing the demo saw my external GPS unit but when I ran it with the other apps, it doesn't do anything! DO NOT BUY THIS.

This app does work on the iPad. I'm using it now. As for passing info to OS apps that's an ongoing process I guess. Google maps and Google Earth work perfectly for me.

I emailed the developer - he responded. I'll wait for his updates but in the mean time, not passing GPS info to the apps that need it means IT DOES NOT WORK. It doesn't work on the iPhone nor does it work on the iPad. Sure the app starts up and you see the 3D fix sat lock with raw info but that's it. Closing the app and starting up another app that requires the info like navigon doesn't even work - navigon doesn't even see the GPS; using roqyBT GPS, navigon works!
