Apple is planning to release a new iPhone form factor every year for three years, starting with a foldable model in 2026, according to a post from leaker yeux1122 on Naver. Citing details from an "SP report" on Apple's OLED technology, the leak outlines a roadmap that includes a book-style foldable, a completely bezel-less iPhone, and a clamshell flip phone.
The plan reportedly begins in 2026 with Apple's first foldable iPhone — a book-style device similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold, featuring an internal display about the size of an iPad mini. The report says the device will use a fully under-display Face ID and camera system, differing from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's earlier prediction of side-button Touch ID. It also mentions a "Glass Mid Frame (GMF)" design to reduce the crease and a COE & CPM display stack that improves color purity and transparency. The goal, according to the leak, is to merge the iPhone and tablet experience — Apple's first major step into the foldable era. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has also described a three-year iPhone overhaul beginning with the iPhone Air in 2025, followed by a foldable in 2026 and a curved model in 2027.
For 2027, the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, Apple is said to be preparing the industry's first completely bezel-less smartphone. This "iPhone Zero Bezel" would use a "four-edge bending OLED" that wraps the entire frame, along with a "Crater Diffusion Layer" to maintain uniform brightness. All cameras and sensors would sit entirely under the display. The design is described as a flat, minimalist "candy bar," a contrast to Gurman's earlier forecast of a curved-glass model. The leak positions this edition as a symbolic milestone that represents visual purity and a clean, edge-free aesthetic.
The roadmap reportedly concludes in 2028 with a clamshell-style "iPhone Flip." The compact, lightweight model is said to target the fashion and lifestyle market. Its external display will show quick information, AI shortcuts, and notifications, while the inner display uses a "four-sided curved structure" along with Clear OC + COE technology to enhance color and transparency. The leak frames it as a "light luxury" iPhone for style-focused users.
