YouTube has officially launched a native app for Apple Vision Pro, giving users direct access to its video library inside visionOS. Until now, viewers relied on the web version of YouTube through Safari or third-party wrapper apps to watch on the headset.
The new app supports traditional videos, Shorts, and immersive formats such as 3D 360 and VR180 content. It includes a full signed-in experience, letting users access subscriptions, playlists, and watch history just like they would on other devices. The interface is built for a "lean back" viewing experience, keeping video front and center while the surrounding environment fades away.
The app works across the Vision Pro lineup, but one feature is limited to the newest model. YouTube says 8K video playback is available only on Apple Vision Pro with the M5 chip. Apple updated the headset last October with the M5 processor to boost performance. First-generation users still get access to the full catalog, just without 8K support.
A native YouTube app addresses one of the more noticeable omissions in the visionOS app lineup. App availability has been a recurring topic, especially after reports that Apple had scaled back production earlier this year. At the same time, the content offering continues to grow. Apple recently introduced live immersive sports and has continued refining the platform with updates like extended Travel Mode in visionOS 26.2.
