Hurlybird Media has released the latest update for iPhone users. Putting Pal 1.2 in an ingenious digital green reader that uses augmented reality to help golfers improve their putting game. Like other green readers, Putting Pal 1.2 shows users the break direction and slope of the green, then it uses that information to go where other green readers can't. With a few simple adjustments, golfers get real-time, visual feedback about their shot, including ball trajectory and required swing strength.
Putting Pal 1.2 features include: * Measures break direction and slope * Augmented reality * Real-time visual feedback * Simulates your shot instantly * Online help menu
The user simply sets their iPhone on the green to read the break direction and amount of slope. They can then hold up the device and frame their shot in the display. By adjusting the ball and pin sliders, the golfer aligns the reticles, or crosshairs, with the shot that's on the green. Once it's set, a yellow arrow indicates the path needed for the ball to reach the hole. Dotted white lines show reference trajectories for a shot directly at the pin, as well as 15 and 30 degrees left or right of center. This shows them how the direction and amount of break will affect their shot, in 15 degree increments, over a 60 degree arc.
If they choose to, the user can also adjust the power meter up and down to see how various swing strengths will affect the shot. The power meter is a relative scale, rather than an actual measurement, but it serves to show the golfer how the amount of force exerted affects the ball's path.
