Apple released Thunderbolt software update version 1.2 yesterday (which has now been pulled) with the lone change of "Adds support for the Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter."
After the update, hundreds of users fled to the Apple support forums. A handful of users after the update have not been able to boot properly. There have been reports of odd Kernel panics, or simply just getting stuck at the boot menu.
The only solution for now seems to be a boot into recovery and reinstalling Lion. For now, we warn you to stay away from this update until Apple posts a fix. Since the update is already pulled, hopefully a fix will follow soon.

Reinstalling the whole system is NOT the only solution to fix the problem.
If you have the luck to have a second Mac computer with a firewire port, you can start the bricked Mac into TARGET MODE (pressing 'T' before the start-up chime).
Then, on the spare Mac, you download from Apple website the lasted Combo System Update for Lion 10.7.4.
You will run the Combo System Update installation specifying as target the mounted volume of the bricked Mac.
That will fix the installation of unfortunate Mac
Side effect: it will over-write all the Apple updates released after the Combo System Update 10.7.4.
Fix: just run Software Update
Hope this is helpful for many has it's been for me.

Pues solo comentar que a mi me sucedio y despues de tanto buscar y preguntar, encontre la solucion dandole en el arranque comando + R hasta que aparece la ventana de reinstalacion, seleccione Lion y de ahi en adelante todo el proceso y tiempo que se requiere para bajar e instalar; un poco desesperante por el tiempo de bajada pero bien valio la pena!!!!! Ahora como si nada, mi maquina corriendo al 100%

Well, the article did say that a 'handful' people had a problem with the update, vs the hundreds of thousands (my guess) who installed it. So I'm not surprised that people in here haven't seen a problem.

i don't seem to have any problems after installing the update as i have restarted 3-4 times after that update was officially released yesterday. :)

You're kidding...No problem after installing the update on my Late-2011 17" MBP...you know...the one that fell off the Internet...
