The iPhone Dev-Team has just posted a screenshot of a 2.2 baseband that appears to have been unlocked.
Before this breakthrough, if you updated to 2.2 through iTunes without a custom firmware file, you could not unlock your iPhone 3G.
However, according to the screenshot, it is now possible to unlock any 3G iPhone.

I take it back, it must be the alcohol I've been drinking, I just scrolled the screen and took a screen shot and got the same. Sorry, just anxiously awaiting the release.
Please ignore my last post. Sorry I questioned the integrity of the Gods.

sorry to be a kill joy, but the screen shot does not seem right, or has something changed with the about screen in the phone after the last update? When I look at mine I see a lot more detail, including the devices name, network, totals for songs, videos and photos, capacity, version number, carrier and then what was shown in the screen shot. Please someone tell me I'm wrong... I want to be wrong... please... If I am not, then the image is doctored.

Great Job Guys!
I was just telling everyone yesterday you would have it done any day now.
I guess this will delay the release of the tools for everyone.
