Apple has released the second developer betas of iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4, just a week after seeding the first builds to testers.
The first wave of iOS 26.4 testing brought a mix of practical changes across the system. Apple enabled Stolen Device Protection by default to tighten security and began testing end-to-end encryption for RCS messages. It also rolled out full-screen artwork in Apple Music and shifted video podcasts to HTTP Live Streaming on the backend.
In the car, the software opened the door for third-party AI apps like ChatGPT to run natively on the CarPlay dashboard. However, the major Siri overhaul that was originally expected for this spring is still missing. Recent reports indicate Apple ran into performance issues during internal testing, pushing those broader AI features to a later release.
Apple hasn't outlined what's new in today's release. Second betas typically focus on bug fixes rather than introducing major features. We are currently installing the software and will update if anything significant stands out.
Developers can grab the new builds directly from the Apple Developer Center or by checking the Software Update menu in Settings.
