Apple is preparing to redesign how users manage their AirPods in iOS 27, making the settings experience easier to navigate as the earbuds continue gaining new features.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple is revamping the existing AirPods settings interface across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 instead of releasing a standalone AirPods app. The redesigned control panel is expected to be cleaner and easier to use, with major features more accessible and easier to manage.
AirPods have evolved well beyond basic audio accessories in recent years. Apple has introduced features like head gesture recognition, adaptive audio, hearing aid functionality, and personalized spatial audio through a mix of hardware upgrades and software updates. The recently released AirPods Pro 3 added heart-rate monitoring and Live Translation, while the AirPods Max 2 gained higher-quality audio recording and camera remote features.
Many users have asked Apple for a dedicated AirPods management app similar to the companion apps available for the Apple Watch and Vision Pro. Gurman says Apple has heard the feedback, but instead plans to improve the existing settings experience by reorganizing controls currently spread across Bluetooth and accessibility menus. This is expected to bring a noticeable visual refresh to the AirPods settings interface.
The redesign arrives as Apple continues expanding its wearables lineup, including future camera-equipped AirPods currently in development.
Notably, the AirPods Pro 3 are currently on sale for $199 on Amazon. That's a $50 discount off their regular $249 price. You can grab the deal here: AirPods Pro 3 Deal.
