Google has released AI Edge Gallery for macOS, a free app that lets Mac users run a selection of the company's Gemma language models entirely on-device. The launch also brings support for Gemma 4 12B, alongside a macOS version of AI Edge Eloquent, Google's on-device dictation and editing app.

AI Edge Gallery gives Mac users access to several Gemma models, including Gemma 4 12B. Google says the multimodal model is designed to bring agentic AI capabilities to everyday laptops, allowing users to generate and execute Python scripts locally for tasks such as data analysis. In one example shared by the company, the model generated code to analyze datasets and create charts from raw data. Google also demonstrated the model generating code and self-correcting while rendering a 3D object from a single prompt.

Google says Gemma 4 12B can be used for local data analysis, coding tasks, and agentic workflows. Performance figures published by the company show the model running locally on a MacBook Pro with Apple's M4 chip.

AI Edge Eloquent brings an upgraded dictation experience to the Mac. A customizable hotkey lets users dictate across any app, while the software can polish and rewrite dictated text for clarity. The macOS version runs entirely on-device and also supports local transcription of audio and video files.

Google is also introducing Voice Edit, a new feature powered by Gemma 4 12B that lets users modify text using spoken commands. For example, users can highlight text and say "restructure these notes into an executive summary" or "translate this into Hindi." Google says Gemma 4 12B delivers a 60% improvement in overall quality for Voice Edit compared to earlier models, along with better instruction following and scope adherence.

In addition to AI Edge Gallery and Eloquent, Google has expanded LiteRT-LM with a new serve command that allows developers to run Gemma 4 12B through local OpenAI-compatible endpoints for use with third-party tools and frameworks.

Google says running these models locally allows users to build AI-powered workflows while keeping data on their device and maintaining offline functionality. AI Edge Gallery and AI Edge Eloquent are available now for macOS as free downloads from Google's website.
