What's New in iOS 27.2 Beta 1

Apple has released iOS 27.2 beta 1 to developers, bringing a redesigned Health app, five additional Siri AI languages, Apple TV profiles on iPhone and iPad, new CarPlay Ultra themes, and more. Here's a look at everything we've found in the first beta so far.

The redesigned Health app is organized into three tabs: Insights, Longevity, and Browse. Insights surfaces recent and relevant data such as vitals, sleep score, heart rate, and Activity Rings, while Longevity shows health data over time and provides a Health Age calculated from activity level, VO2 max, sleep time, and other metrics. The feature also includes in-app assessments that use the iPhone's camera to measure flexibility, strength, balance, and VO2 max. The new app is limited to U.S. English for now and also carries a new icon.



Siri AI gains five more languages in this beta: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. In Settings, App Access under Siri is now named Excluded Apps, with an Add Apps list that can exclude multiple apps at once from Siri, Search, and suggestions.



The Phone app picks up anniversary alerts through Call Context. When calling someone who has an anniversary saved in Contacts, the Phone app can display a reminder.



The Apple TV app extends profiles to iPhone and iPad, letting users create and switch between profiles from account settings. Profiles include a name, profile rating, and an option indicating whether the user is a child. Child profiles default to a PG content limit, with controls available to customize TV and movie age ratings. A new TV app setting also enables sign language interpretation when available.



The FaceTime sign-language API announced in May appears to be live, allowing interpretation apps to add a human interpreter to an ongoing video call. Dual capture has also been extended to group FaceTime calls, allowing feeds from the front and rear cameras to be shared at the same time after the feature was previously limited to standard FaceTime calls.




CarPlay Ultra adds themes covering wallpaper, gauge style, and color. Code also suggests ambient lighting in supported vehicles will match the color of the selected theme.

Podcasts renames Up Next to New Episodes and places Continue Playing directly below it. In Music, some red accents have been removed from the Library. The Play and Shuffle buttons are now black, along with the icons next to Library sections.



The Clock app makes a smaller visual change, reducing the size of the a.m. and p.m. labels displayed alongside alarm times.



App Tracking Transparency now supports an alternative expanded prompt for EU users along with annual re-prompting. Apple's release notes say the alternative prompt is required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania.

Notably, Apple has moved directly to iOS 27.2 beta testing for existing iPhones rather than releasing an iOS 27.1 beta. This may be intended to keep iPhone Duo code out of developer builds ahead of the device's October launch, when it is expected to ship with iOS 27.1.

iOS 27.2 beta 1 is available now to developers through Software Update with the developer beta option enabled.
