RIM has posted a video showing the BlackBerry PlayBook easily beating out the iPad in terms of browser speed and HTML5 performance.

Take a look below...

I wonder what they gonna do when iPad gets iOS 4.2. Surely 4.2 on iPad will take them down heavily. Just wait couple of more days RIM.

The person doing this demo clearly does not use the iPad frequently enough. While typing the addresses he never uses the single tap .com button! If you had a race with two people the amount of time the .com button saves could help the ipad come in at a closer time. Also, the screen size and resolution might have something to do with it? He never zooms in enough to show the quality of the images rendered, just that they were rendered! i would rather wait a few more seconds for a better image than faster pixelated images

Competitors will always use the iPad to compare their products. That is a free marketing ad for the iPad :D No matter what devices are being released, the iPad is the number 1 selling device worldwide, even selling more than laptops (you can Google it). And when Apple will release iPad 2, then we will see what competitors will do (of course they will start manufacturing new products and doing videos comparing their new devices with iPad 2 and so on...). And about iPad lacking flash support, that's a good thing for me. I'm a Multimedia developer, I use flash on many projects, and I can tell you that flash is NOT meant to run on mobile devices because it's very heavy. So I appreciate that Apple didn't allow it, that way developers are forced to using HTML5 (which is the web standard) to create their rich content instead of Flash. That is innovation!

Being the number one selling device in the world isn't the be all and end all. I love my iPad but lets be honest here, its not always the most useful and easy to use tool in the box. If I want to sit and play with media its brilliant (unless flash is involved of course :-)) but if I want to book my flight, hire car and hotel on line for my next trip I'm afraid I pick up my laptop (especially printing bookings and itineraries). Personally I hope other manufacturers continue to come up with devices that push both Apple the company and Steve Jobs, that way hopefully the iPad will continue to grow.
