Apple SVP Eddy Cue has reportedly fired Richard Williamson, the man who oversaw the the company's mapping team, according to Bloomberg.
Richard Williamson, who oversaw the mapping team, was fired by Senior Vice President Eddy Cue, said the people, who asked not to be named because the information wasn’t yet public. Cue, who took over last month as part of a management shakeup, is seeking advice from outside mapping-technology experts and prodding digital maps provider TomTom NV (TOM2) to fix landmark and navigation data it shares with Apple.
It's also said that part of the reason behind Scott Forstall's removal as SVP was due to his part in the Apple Maps debacle.

Why use TomTom's mapping tech? It's comparable to horse manure in the states. TomTom is better suited for European Navigation. For North America, NAVTEQ is the best and very accurate too.

Who's ultimately responsible for the Apple Maps fail?
Isn't it Tim Cook?

They should start collaborating with Garmin. In first place it was TomTom which put them in such a mess

I can think of a few more that should go at apple cook for one. I really don't see apple going forward with him at the head of apple. One reason is as the head no matter how big you are if your bring out a new item he should of had the insight to see how bad Siri and maps were and done some thing about it. And get rid of the testers as they did not do a good jop.
