The AppleTV software has been updated to v2.4 and adds remote control with simple finger gestures from the iPhone.

New view options - View movies By Genre, By Movie, or Unwatched. View TV Shows an dPodcasts By Date, By Show, or Unwatched.
Updated transport and chapter modes - During video playback, click right or left to fast forward or rewind. Additional clicks increase the speed. Click down to show chapter markers.
I have just used the gestures feature on my ATV and it is AWESOME! It is worth downloading and is really easy to use. I wish I could purchase a game from the App store and then transfer it onto the ATV using the iPhone / iPod Touch as a wireless controller? That would be cool to play Cro-Mag or Monkey ball on the TV! Come on Apple there must be a way???
Good to see that Apple are still continuing work on the Apple TV. I think the ATV has so much potential and using the gestures on the remote app on either an iPhone or iPod Touch is a step in the right direction.
I hope the work continues?
