These are instructions on how to disable automatic software updates on your Apple TV 4.

Step One
Select Settings from the Home screen.

Step Two
Choose System from the Settings menu.

Step Three
Select Software Updates from the System menu.

Step Four
Toggle the Automatically Update option to the Off position.

even disabling auto update, an update mesg keeps popping asking to update and what bugs me that the in mesg the "update" is selected. so if your kid press a button then u r history.

Even with these steps, your Apple TV 4 will still update. I suggest to always disconnect power when calling it a night, because when you wake up your screen will read "update completed."
