I really want to try this. I'm liking the hard install idea. How are the rest of the components being turned on? Other than using the onkyo component is there a 12volt component that could do the job? I was thinking about feeding the ipad into an audiocontrol dqs. Any help guys?
The iPad can do music and maps/gps at the same time, the mulitasking that it cant do is pretty much any other app. The ipod app, along with the mail and safari apps usually run in the background without you even realizing it...
:)
I would definitely hard install. You run the usb cable through the dash to a twelve volt usb charger. You can then easily disconnect the cable and use it to sync up with your macbook when necessary. A hard install would look much better.
What would really be cool is a "detachable" face type of install, where it looks as good as a hard install but can be detached and removed (for security or use elsewhere).
There's no reason it couldn't be braced in the corners (hidden) and have back support to keep from moving around.
Yeah how about a little clip to hold it all in place. And a flexible and retractable (mount friendly) dock connector you plug in carefully before latching it in.
That way you can bring you iPad into the house for theft reasons, and so you can watch porn that night and fap fap fap before your next outing in the morning when you fiend for Rammstein
