Soundman Car Audio Installs iPad Into Car Dash [Video]

Soundman Car Audio has posted a video showing the installation of the iPad into a car dash.

Some other ideas I had include using a bluetooth receiver for the audio so the iPad can be moved around inside the car or even removing the casing of the iPad entirely. You could then fabricate a custom enclosure which would mount the iPad seamlessly into your dash.

I really want to try this. I'm liking the hard install idea. How are the rest of the components being turned on? Other than using the onkyo component is there a 12volt component that could do the job? I was thinking about feeding the ipad into an audiocontrol dqs. Any help guys?

Too bad the iPad doesn't multitask. Maps/GPS and music at the same time is a must. But still, these guys did a great job.

The iPad can do music and maps/gps at the same time, the mulitasking that it cant do is pretty much any other app. The ipod app, along with the mail and safari apps usually run in the background without you even realizing it... :)

Awesome :D! But its pretty dumb to hard-install, i mean what about iTunes? What about a USB-connecter at the fuel plug xD

I would definitely hard install. You run the usb cable through the dash to a twelve volt usb charger. You can then easily disconnect the cable and use it to sync up with your macbook when necessary. A hard install would look much better.

What would really be cool is a "detachable" face type of install, where it looks as good as a hard install but can be detached and removed (for security or use elsewhere). There's no reason it couldn't be braced in the corners (hidden) and have back support to keep from moving around.
