Apple also confirmed the delayed release of iPadOS 16 to TechCrunch, as previously rumored...
"This is an especially big year for iPadOS. As its own platform with features specifically designed for iPad, we have the flexibility to deliver iPadOS on its own schedule. This Fall, iPadOS will ship after iOS, as version 16.1 in a free software update."
The big new feature in iPadOS is Stage Manager, a new multitasking experience that aims to make it easier to organize apps and windows.
For the first time on iPad, users can create overlapping windows of different sizes in a single view, drag and drop windows from the side, or open apps from the Dock to create groups of apps for faster, more flexible multitasking. The window of the app users are working on is displayed prominently in the centre, and other open apps and windows are arranged on the left-hand side in order of recency.
New for the iPadOS 16.1 beta is the ability to resurface the Stage Manager side rail with a gesture while the feature is full screen, notes TechCrunch. The other updates are said to be standard bug fixes.
