Amazon has unveiled a major update to its Echo lineup with four new devices powered by its next-generation assistant, Alexa+. The refresh includes a new Echo Dot Max and Echo Studio, along with redesigned Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11. All four products feature custom silicon and new sensors designed to deliver more responsive and personalized experiences.
At the core of the new lineup are Amazon's AZ3 and AZ3 Pro chips, each equipped with an AI Accelerator for running on-device models. The hardware enables an upgraded microphone system that Amazon says improves Alexa's wake-word detection by more than 50 percent. A new platform called Omnisense combines input from cameras, audio, ultrasound, and Wi-Fi radar to support smarter automations.
The Echo Dot Max, priced at $99.99, introduces a two-way speaker system with a high-excursion woofer and custom tweeter, producing nearly three times the bass of the previous Echo Dot. The updated Echo Studio is 40 percent smaller than before and features a spherical design, a high-excursion woofer, and three full-range drivers with support for spatial audio and Dolby Atmos. It will retail for $219.99.
For smart displays, Amazon announced the new Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11. Both models adopt custom displays with in-cell touch and a negative liquid crystal design that improve clarity and viewing angles. They also debut a redesigned smart home hub interface with support for Matter and Thread. The launch comes as Apple is rumored to be preparing its own smart display for release next year.
Amazon is also pushing into health and wellness through a new partnership with Oura. Users who link their Oura account can receive personalized insights from Alexa, with additional partners such as Withings and Wyze expected in the future .
The Echo Dot Max and Echo Studio will be available on October 29, while the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11 will launch on November 12. Pre-orders are open now, and each device will ship with Alexa+ Early Access.
