Apple has announced that select live NBA games are coming to Apple Vision Pro in Apple Immersive Video, thanks to a partnership with Spectrum SportsNet. The new offering will begin with a selection of Los Angeles Lakers matchups during the upcoming 2025-26 season.
The immersive format is designed to give viewers courtside perspectives that are impossible with a traditional broadcast. While the full schedule of games will be revealed later this fall, the first stream is expected by early next year through a forthcoming Spectrum SportsNet app for visionOS.
These games will be captured using the new URSA Cine Immersive Live camera from Blackmagic Design. This is a new live-production version of the camera system unveiled earlier this year for creating Apple Immersive content, with the live version set to be available for purchase next year.
Live game access in Apple Immersive will be available to fans within the Lakers' regional broadcast territory, which includes Southern California, Hawaii, and parts of southern Nevada. For users in select other countries and regions, full game replays and highlights will be available on demand through both the Spectrum SportsNet and NBA apps.
Apple also noted its growing library of Immersive Video content, which includes series like Adventure, films such as Metallica, and sports features like VIP: Yankee Stadium. New films from the Audi F1 team, Red Bull, and other global studios are planned for the coming months.
For those who prefer a more traditional viewing experience, the existing Spectrum TV and NBA apps are also available on Vision Pro. The NBA app, for instance, allows League Pass subscribers to watch up to five 2D games at once with its multiview feature and offers a 3D tabletop mode for visualizing player movements.
Viewing the live Lakers games will require a Vision Pro running visionOS 26 or later and a subscription to Spectrum broadband or Spectrum SportsNet. The full game replays and highlights will typically be available one to three days after each game.
