Withings is taking another step toward redefining the bathroom scale ahead of CES 2026. The company has unveiled the Body Scan 2, a device it describes as a "longevity station" rather than just a weight tracker. It is designed to measure more than 60 health markers, bringing data typically collected in clinical settings into the home.
The headline feature is a new way to assess arterial hypertension risk. Rather than requiring users to strap on a blood pressure cuff, the scale uses a clinically validated AI model to detect signs of hypertension through foot-based contact alone. This passive approach to heart health mirrors the direction Apple has taken with the hypertension notifications on the Watch Series 11, shifting the focus from on-demand checks to background monitoring.
Much of the advanced analysis is enabled by the retractable handle. By pulling it up during a weigh-in, the device runs a 6-lead ECG to assess heart rhythm and uses Impedance Cardiography to measure cardiac efficiency, indicating how effectively the heart pumps blood throughout the body. Withings says this combined data can estimate "heart age" and identify changes in cardiac reactivity well before physical symptoms appear.
The tracking extends beyond cardiovascular health. Body Scan 2 uses ultra-high-frequency signals to perform bioimpedance spectroscopy, analyzing health at the cellular level. This allows the scale to estimate cellular age and surface early indicators related to glycemic regulation. The goal is to detect metabolic slowdowns or elevated risk factors, such as prediabetes, while they remain responsive to lifestyle changes.
Physically, the unit sticks to the design language of its predecessor, featuring a high-strength tempered glass platform and the signature pull-up bar. That handle houses a color LCD screen that displays trends and health insights immediately, so you do not have to reach for your iPhone while standing on the scale. Power is handled by a rechargeable battery that Withings says is good for up to 15 months of use. Data syncs over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to the Withings app, which feeds directly into Apple Health.
The expanded feature set is reflected in the price. Body Scan 2 will retail for $599.95, with Withings targeting a release in the second quarter of 2026. Availability is contingent on FDA clearance for its new cardiovascular and metabolic features.
