Apple has released watchOS 11.6.2 today, rolling out a targeted fix for a critical connectivity issue affecting users in Australia. This update is available for the Apple Watch Series 6 and later.
According to reports, this build resolves an issue that prevented some users from making calls to emergency services while in Australia. Apple states that this update has no published CVE entries, indicating it is strictly a bug fix rather than a security patch.
The release arrives shortly after Apple pushed out a similar set of updates for older devices, including iOS 16.7.14, which addressed the same mobile network problem on legacy iPhones.
You can download the update by opening the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and navigating to General > Software Update. To install the software, your Apple Watch must have at least 50 percent battery, be placed on its charger, and be within range of your iPhone.
