Apple's online user interface documents hint that the iPad may also get a Retina display.

9to5Mac notes that naming convention for iPhone 4 icons uses @2x to denote the higher resolution icons:

Interestingly the iPad user interface documents refer to the inclusion of a higher resolution icon with a similar convention of @2x-ipad

The site suggests that Apple could give the iPad a Retina display in the future. What do you think?

The low resolution screen is a real disappointment on the iPad to be honest. When you compare it to the 3GS resolution- let alone any "retina display", it really is rubbish. Badly needed.
