It all depends on the contract they want you to sign up with......
and we are not sure of the CASH purchase price and what we need to do to purchse the iPhone outright

Just got off the phone with the Calgary Apple store and they have no date as of yet for pre purchase of the iPhone 4 for Canadians....
She did say that we will be able to come into the store and purchase the iPhone 4 but we will need to sign up with a cell phone provider before we leave the store...so that means we need to sign a contract...Rogers wants a 3 Year contract...i Just look at the TELUS website and the NOW have the PRICES UP ON THE WEBSITE...goggle Telus mobility for info
iPhone 3GS 32 GB $ 799.00 NO TERM
iPhone 3GS 32 GB $ 299.00 3 year Term
iPhone 3GS 16 GB $ 699.00 NO TERM
iPhone 3GS 16 GB $ 199.00 3 Year Term
thanks Rugburn

Look at the " Select your iPhone " web site closer and you will see that here in Canada they still want $549.00 for iPhone 3GS - 8 GB
whereas in the USA they only want $99.00 for the iPhone 3GS - 8GB
What IS UP WITH THAT?

The $99 is for a phone on 2 year contract

Nah, thats the price until the NEW iPhone4 is released.
When it IS released in Canada, it will no longer be the current model.
It will go back down to 99 when its downgraded to an older model.

You are mistaken. The EIGHT gigabyte 3GS is the new low end model. Which is available for $549 unlocked and without a contract.
The $99 8GB 3GS for AT&T requires a 2 year contract and is sim locked to get it at that price....
Please do your homework.

I'm pretty sure that would be Canadian dollar not US. Relax on the price there homie. Prob closer to 400usd. Remember the iPhone retail price instore in the US has been starting at 400 and going up.

I need to find a friend in Canada. My upgrade cost via AT&T is only for a small discount, so I'm out of at least $500 + tax (which is always the full price of the phone tax). At that rate, I might as well buy a factory unlocked phone and be better off.

Post your email, we can work something out.

I could possibly help you out i live in ALBERTA, Canada. Remember Alberta is the only province without a Provincial sales tax so you save even more...we only have the Goods and Sales Tax...yes that's the GST at 7 %....
We give Ottawa 12 Billion dollars a year in Oil revenue tax....yes 12 Billion with a B...
So we get no Provincial sales tax....now we just have to get the politicians to pay us a OIL royalty tax like Alaska does.

Don't trust anyone in another country with your money.. Go on eBay when the iPhone becomes available and buy it off there, at least then you can get your money back if they rip you off.

Last time I checked, sales tax in Canada was only 5%. Interesting how tables have turned... Americans will now be coming up to buy the unlocked phones exclusive to Canada. ;)

Of least you guys have some cellular network competition! We are stuck with just AT&T and TMobile for gsm.
0
Rugburn - June 15, 2010 at 7:33pm
Yes we finally have cell phone competition here in Canada...T
Telus and Bell Canada have joined forces and are launching a GSM network across Canada to compete with Rogers.....ouch....Roger is Pissed.
Rogers have been the only GSM network you could use iPhones on across Canada...
they want everyone to sign a 3 year contract to get the low iPhone price.... screw them.
And regarding other Provinces and purchases made....you have to pay the Provincial Sales Tax and the 7% GST TAX in all other provinces. That's two set of taxes

Lol do you even live in Canada??? GST is 5% not 7%.
