Gresso is offering the iPhone 4 with a back panel made out of 200 year old African Blackwood instead of glass.
The company says the material is of incredible strength and durability and it is used in conjunction with 18-karat gold in classical iPhone design.
Gresso offers a male model notable for elegance and noble reticence and a female version with dainty engraving and Swarovski crystals incrustation at a price of $3000 and $3500 respectively.
The iPhone 3GS limited series will come into the market in July, and the iPhone 4 series will appear in December, 2010.

I really like the idea of custom backplates made out of exotic materials, but 200 year old african wood? They might as well call it a "conflict phone".

i'd buy this phone only if they would cut off the heads and whoever thought of this idea and use their skulls for the backplates. why would somebody ruin a 200 year old wood and turn it into a novelty item that would only be good for a year (until the next iphone comes around)?

i think this is a joke. i would spend $3000 on the iphone back. oh hell no...if the guy who buy might be something wrong with his brain.
