Clarke: You're not off. And I third you - LOL. This app should be free, as part of the iPhone's integral package. Looks like someone's following suit to iRealSMS, which features a landscape mode for texting.

Looks like my above comment was a little off but I still think this should be a free feature built in to Apples own mail app and not a separate 99 cent update.

So they let an email app in the App Store that duplicates the mail app already on the iphone but with a different typing orientation but wont let other apps in? Just seems a little funky and should be a freebie if ya ask me :)
