Apple Sued Over Deceptive Siri Commercials

Apple is being sued by a New York man for false advertising. Frank M. Fazio says the company's commercials convey a 'misleading and deceptive' message about Siri's capabilities.

The lawsuit was filed today in California federal court, reports the WSJ. It says that...

n many of Apple's television advertisements, individuals are shown using Siri to make appointments, find restaurants, and even learn the guitar chords to classic rock songs or how to tie a tie. In the commercials, all of these tasks are done with ease with the assistance of the iPhone 4S's Siri feature, a represented functionality contrary to the actual operating results and performance of Siri.

Fazio says that in real life, "Siri either did not understand what Plaintiff was asking, or, after a very long wait time, responded with the wrong answer."

Lol I love comments like these. If its in BETA then they should not feature it in a commercial OR properly disclose that it is in BETA and not final in the commercial!

I agree, I tried to find the chords to a song and all the other things on the commercial... Siri didn't work. For the most part Siri is fine, but the commercial is false advertising! I was pissed also!!

i never heard anybody sued about burger taste, they taste as they look whereas siri does not work as it looks

Mmmm.. Basically when u advertise something it means it will work the way it should be expected.. Simply this guy thinks it will do as what Has been advertise.. Truth is if u advertise something that will work it should work.. In this case even if you speak fluent english base on my experience even if i pronounce it right there really is something wrong with the SIRI.. Sometimes I really don't get the right answer from SIRI.. And like what the other guy says it's in BETA series.. Some people or most doesn not know it's on BETA so they expect something from SIRI that it will work fine.. Sad to say it doesn't.. Simple if SIRI doesn't satisfy u and u burn $200+ just to be able to use SIRI in action and didn't go well and u want ur money back then go ahead, but if this sorts of things doesn't bother u much and still ur enjoying ur iphone then don't complain that SIRI is useless.. If u don't like SIRI then turn it off.

It's clear from his name he speaks English with an accent. Humans can't always understand foreign accents. If humans can't understand you, why would Siri? Reminds me of the Big Bang Episode with Siri in it.

SIRI is actually useless. I personally prefer not to use it because it's faster to do things the conventional way.

i just tested out every ad on my 4s and siri respond to every question asked. the part about the tie, is "how do i tie a bow tie again?, siri then does a web search" the part. this guy suing is a joke...
