The Pebble E-Paper Watch for iPhone and Android, a new Kickstarter project, raised $100,000 in its first two hours.
Pebble is the first watch built for the 21st century. It's infinitely customizable, with beautiful downloadable watchfaces and useful internet-connected apps. Pebble connects to iPhone and Android smartphones using Bluetooth, alerting you with a silent vibration to incoming calls, emails and messages. While designing Pebble, we strove to create a minimalist yet fashionable product that seamlessly blends into everyday life.
Apps Cyclists can use Pebble as a bike computer, accessing the GPS on your smartphone to display speed, distance and pace data. Runners get a similar set of data displayed on their wrist. Use the music control app to play, pause or skip tracks on your phone with the touch of a button. If you're a golfer, Pebble is working with Freecaddie to create a great golf rangefinder app.
Watch Faces There are tons of watch faces for the Pebble that can be shown on the device's outdoor-readable electronic-paper (e-paper) display. You can choose your favorite using Pebble's iPhone or Android app.
Notifications Pebble features vibrating notifications, messages and alerts. You can dismiss a notification with a shake of your wrist. ● Incoming Caller ID ● Email (Gmail or any IMAP email account) ● Calendar Alerts ● Facebook Messages ● Twitter ● Weather Alerts ● Silent vibrating alarm and timer ● Android Only: SMS Messages (Unfortunately iPhone does not expose this data)
SDK Pebble can receive simple alerts and notifications from if this then that (ifttt.com) or their web-facing RESTful endpoint. For more adventurous developers there is a Pebble SDK that gives full control of the watch. ● Load apps using Bluetooth ● 144 x 168 pixel display black and white e-paper ● Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR ● 4 buttons ● Vibrating motor ● 3 axis accelerometer with gesture detection ● Distribute apps via Pebble watchapp store
The watch has already raised $155,372 of its $100,000 goal. You have 37 days left to pledge $115 for one of the first units.

My concern would be how quickly a constant Bluetooth connection would use the battery on my iPhone. Nice idea but I'll hold off for now.

Still missing a few things like abillity to view iphone txt msgs an siri, etc. Think an ipod nano an a watch strap would be better for time being.

i only have one question, and me buying it relies solely on the answer. Is it waterproof/water resistant?

If this had a mic and worked with Siri if would be awesome. It'd feel like being in a sci-fi movie.

This is great just what I need, I'm a business owner of an online repair company I too work next to techs doing repairs even as the owner. This is nice now that I could get notifications just on my wrist with out having to grab my iphone to see who's calling or to see a custom email. I just became a Backer to Pebble and now I will get my watch in Sept!!
