Google SVP Jeff Huber said the company plans to provide an 'amazing' Google Maps experience on iOS in a Google+ comment earlier today.
We look forward to providing amazing Google Maps experiences on iOS.
This is good news for Google Maps users that were hoping the company would release a standalone app for iOS now that Apple has made its intentions to drop the service from iOS 6.
Google also announced reduced pricing for its Google Maps API following some high profile defects from the service.
Hopefully, the Google Maps app comes soon than later because at this point Apple's Maps app is completely unusable for us. It's been suggested that Google might also bring its navigation feature to iOS. Currently, that's only available to Android users.

Second largest river in my country is simply missing out of capital map range... Satelite photo quality also sucks - specially compared to MS bing maps..
Will apple approve google maps standalone app? Hummm, this seems like the beginning of the end. Apple has no more innovations and is starting to make pretty shitty decisions. WP8, you are VERY WELCOME.
Apple's maps are shit. 3D works in 5 cities around the world. Traffic barely works, satellite image quality is just ridiculous. We'll se VERY disappointed customers this fall iOS6 comes out.
This. If your not in the "almighty" US of A then your screwed with apple's new maps. The satellite and vector quality is shocking compared to Google's efforts and the turn by turn is poor compared to the standalone apps from Tomtom etc. When can we expect apple to look past america, there are other countries in the world you know.
Bring on Google's app!
everyone without ios 6 iphone 4s or ipad 3 would care about this. its bs that appl maps wont be fully supported on iphone 4 but it will be on the 4s. That and since I for one don't want to loose siri support I wont be upgrading past 5.0.1 until I get the iphone 5 when and if that comes out
