Apple has posted a document outlining the procedure and cost for replacing the battery of the new 17inch MacBook Pro.
How do I replace the battery in my MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009)? The battery in your MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009) is a consumable item, which means it will require replacement at the end of its useful life. A replacement battery can be purchased directly from Apple. The price of the replacement battery includes installation of your new battery and environmentally responsible disposal of your depleted battery.
The battery replacement can be completed the same day with an appointment and cost of $179.

That's not bad. Dell lists the battery for the XPS M1730 at $189.99, and they don't replace it for you (not that you would need them to)
Not bad.
