Swap It Brings Clipboard Sharing to iPhone

Apple's App Store has approved student developer Robert Hodgen's application Swap It for release. Swap It is a clipboard sharing application for the iPhone and iPod Touch enabling users to share the contents of their clipboards over Bluetooth. Swap It lets users share text, web links (URLs) and pictures between iPhones and iPod touches. Swap It builds on the advent of "copy" and "paste" in the iPhone OS 3.0, and adds needed utility to the iPhone OS platform.

Swap It 1.0 can transfer text, URLs, images, Web Archives and anything else your clipboard can hold. Swap It works in a bidirectional manner, it will "swap" your clipboard with that of your peer's. Swap It gives you the final say on whether your clipboard is overridden.




Swap It gives you full control over your clipboard. Preview your clipboard's contents before sending it to someone else. Swap It will show you image previews, text and web clips along with the current contents, size and data type. Swap It allows you to select and share images from your iPhone or iPod touch's Photo Library without leaving the application.

Swap It gives you the option of saving images you receive to your Camera Roll. This extends the functionality of Swap It beyond the simple task of showing or swapping your clipboard. Received URL's can be opened in Safari from within Swap It. Swap It uses Bluetooth, it works anywhere, you don't need to have a cell signal or be on a wireless network. Both users must be running Swap It on their iPhone or iPod Touch.

Swap It 1.0 costs 99-cents and runs on the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G and iPod touch 3G. The first generation of iPhone and iPod Touch do not support bluetooth file transfer and are not recommended.
