Apple has pledged to open iTunes LP to all labels big or small allowing them to create their own visual record album, according to ElectricPig.

Recently it was reported that iTunes LP was only being offered to major lables at a cost of $10,000.

An Apple spokeperson has issued a statement saying that the company is “releasing the open specs for iTunes LP soon, allowing both major and indie labels to create their own. There is no production fee charged by Apple.”

It's likely that a large number of labels and artists will utilize iTunes LP to enhance the value of their album and provide users extra features such as animated lyrics and liner notes, performance videos, artist and band photos, and other bonus materials.

No word on when the specs will be released.
