A member of the Apfeltalk discussion forums has received a refurbished 8GB iPhone 3G in a box labeled for a 8GB iPhone 3GS.
iPhone 3GS also appears on the boxs contents label; however, despite these markings the device is definitely a 3G.
It has been rumored for some time that Apple will release an 8GB iPhone 3GS. Rogers Wireless had listed the device on their website some time ago and entries for the device were also found in their computer system.

I say its fake. Right next to where it says 3GS it says v. 2.2. The first iphone 3GS firmware is 3.0, no firmwares before that are compatible. If they were in production for the near future they also wouldn't have v. 2.2 to begin with, it should have said 3.0 or 3.1...

Yeah, also look up the Model number and see what you find.
Why do people do this? No point!

iPhone 3GS was v2.1.
iPhone 3G was 1.2
iPhone 2G was 1.1
The 2.2 has nothing to do with the firmware OS version.
