C-SPAN has released an update to their iPhone application which enables background audio streaming via Mobile Safari.
The C-SPAN Radio app delivers 3 audio streams of commercial-free public affairs programming (C-SPAN Radio, C-SPAN and C-SPAN2) and audio podcasts of some of our regularly scheduled programs around the clock, wherever you are.
What's New In This Version: - Background play uses Mobile Safari to play the station's stream so you can use other apps at the same. The current stream will be loaded.
You can download C-SPAN RADIO from the App Store for free.

95.8 Capital FM (largest radio station in the UK and London) has been doing this for several weeks via an app store update. I suspect C=Span have followed the concept.
