Nothing is uglier than a "beautiful device" that doesn't have a nice case and has been beaten up. My kid has a 3Gs and doesn't use a case and is scratched all over. I prefer a nice case and the great functionality of the DEVICE. Not too sure about the bumper though.

Its not that bad. Im sure it comes in tons of colors also, white on white would be more appropriate.

i agree,they putting that bumper to protect the screen of the phone, if you'll notice the screen its not the same as the iPhone 3g, the screen is a little bit pop up on the metal, unlike the 3g, the screen is protected by the metal bumper...however the iphone 4 is great!but the casing is poor..
