Apple has seeded the second developer betas of watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, visionOS 26.4, and HomePod Software 26.4. The updates arrive alongside the latest builds for iOS and iPadOS.
The initial betas introduced a few notable changes for the living room. In tvOS 26.4 beta 1, Apple completely removed the legacy iTunes Movies and TV Shows apps, directing users to navigate entirely through the main Apple TV app. The company also added a "Continuous Audio Connection" toggle in settings. The feature encapsulates audio in a Dolby MAT container to prevent dropouts and popping when switching between audio formats on external receivers and soundbars.
On the headset side, visionOS 26.4 adds backend support for the new HLS video podcasts format, enabling adaptive streaming and dynamic ad insertion. The watchOS update appears largely focused on stability and under-the-hood refinements following the public release of watchOS 26.3.
Apple has not published release notes for today's builds. Second betas typically prioritize bug fixes uncovered during initial testing rather than adding major new features. We are currently exploring the new software and will update if anything significant stands out.
Developers can download the updates via the Software Update section in the Settings app on their respective devices.
