Apple has officially released macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 to the public, bringing necessary compatibility updates for the company's latest external monitors.
The primary focus of this point release is adding support for the recently introduced Studio Display and Studio Display XDR. According to Apple's compatibility documents, Mac users must be running macOS 26.3.1 or later to drive the new Thunderbolt 5 screens. The displays are compatible with a wide range of Apple silicon hardware, including the newest M5-powered MacBooks as well as older models dating back to the original M1 generation.
Alongside the new hardware support, the software includes general under-the-hood bug fixes. It arrives just a few weeks after the broader rollout of macOS Tahoe 26.3. Meanwhile, Apple is already looking ahead to its next major system update, having recently seeded the third developer beta of macOS Tahoe 26.4 to testers.
Mac owners can install the update over the air by navigating to the Software Update section within System Settings. If you need a full installer or a specific restore image, direct links can be found on our dedicated macOS Tahoe download page. You can also quickly locate the exact file you need using the iClarified IPSW Download wizard.
