iPhone Ultra Dummy Compared to iPad mini and iPhone 17 Pro Max

Fresh images and hands-on video of Apple's rumored foldable iPhone dummy offer a closer look at its size, aspect ratio, and external layout.



YouTuber Vadim Yuryev shared a detailed look at the metal molds on X, comparing the device, often referred to as the iPhone Ultra, directly alongside an iPad mini. While the overall footprint is smaller than Apple's 8.3-inch tablet, Yuryev says ultra-thin bezels could make the display "almost as large," adding that the device "feels amazing in the hands" for gaming with on-screen controls. That lines up with reports pointing to a roughly 7.8-inch internal screen.



When opened next to an iPhone 17 Pro Max in landscape orientation, the foldable is nearly the same width. The difference comes in height. Yuryev measures the inner display at 111.5mm tall versus 71mm on the 17 Pro Max, a 56.9 percent increase. That results in a 4:3 aspect ratio, giving apps more room and making 16:9 video "a bit more immersive," while gaming is expected to benefit significantly from the added vertical space.



A short hands-on video also highlights the size and proportions of the outer display area. Yuryev confirmed in replies that the device lacks an Action Button. Instead, volume keys, a power button expected to house side-mounted Touch ID, and the Camera Control button are all positioned along the right edge. Keeping these inputs on one side would reduce the need to route connections across the hinge.

Around back, the dummy features a raised, pill-shaped camera plateau with two lenses rather than the three-lens system used on Pro models. This horizontal camera arrangement departs from Apple's square module, likely to better accommodate the internal hinge structure. The images surfaced alongside a separate look at the iPhone 18 Pro Max dummy, showing how the two designs look side by side.
