AT&T has introduced a new Unlimited Day Pass that gives iPad users 24 hours of cellular data without requiring a long-term contract or an existing AT&T wireless account.
For a flat rate of $3, the pass provides 24 hours of unlimited data coverage across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The offering is available for compatible unlocked, eSIM-capable iPads. As an introductory promotion, AT&T is giving customers their first 24-hour pass for free, although a credit or debit card is still required for verification.
Customers can activate the service directly through the Cellular Data menu in their iPad settings. Purchasing the pass triggers an automatic eSIM download that connects the iPad to AT&T's network. The pass automatically expires after 24 hours. AT&T sends an email notification one hour before the pass expires, and users can purchase another pass directly from their device if they need additional connectivity.
The service is currently limited to compatible iPads. The pass is strictly for data and does not include mobile hotspot access. AT&T says video typically streams at standard-definition quality, and data speeds may be temporarily slowed when the network is busy.
