Google Voice Gets Integrated Into iPhone, Android Style

Google Voice has been integrated into iPhone, Android style, thanks to a new tweak by Justin Williams.

Unlike other Google Voice apps, GVIntegrated's primary user interface is the same Phone application you already use. GVIntegrated allows you to specify which calling experience you prefer globally as well as per contact! Simply install, log in through the Settings page, and start calling!

Also allows users to specify default call rules and per-contact rules!

No new icons are added to the homescreen. GVIntegrated options are configured from your Settings app. You can download GVIntegrated from the Cydia Store for $1.99.

I installed this on my iPad1 3G with the phoneit-ipad app from iphoneislam. Works great!

My question is, can you still make calls if you don't use wifi or a data plan? I know of a few apps I wont mention that it's possible. They must use a cache or store the downloaded info for easy retrieval

I am not sure how something like that would work because GV needs to assign one of its pool of numbers for the phone to actually call, and then GV connects that to the number you want to call. Without a data connection, GV has no idea what number you really want.

It worked on 2 OS's Windows 6.5 and Android Froro 2.2(ported to Windows Phone) HTC Touch Pro 2. I did it and it works. If the phone was up and running I would create a YouTube video to prove it. I guess that is some of the things I like about Android and Windows, always ways to make things work. Don't ask me how but I worked. I will try to get the names of the software that worked for it and post. I can understand the ported Android working, but not Windows? I think GV Dialer was one...the other worked by a script file that called like using a calling card with prompts, but was automated.

The problem with GV Phone Extension (and probably this one too) is that calls initiated via bluetooth (like in a car), somehow bypass the extension altogether, always dialing out w/ the carrier number.

How is this different from mrzzheng's "GV Phone Extension" (there's also a GV SMS Extension"), which has been around for a long time? The capabilities seem identical. I don't see an option to enter a local area code to allow 7-digit dialing, something missing from GV Phone Extension. The screenshots don't show the "per-contact" rule interface. GV Phone Extension lets you select this by number pattern.

If I choose to dial from my Google Voice account, does this still use minutes from my cell phone plan?

Google Voice calls are cell calls. It is a common misconception that GV is VoIP. That said, you CAN do VoIP with a Google Voice account - see the app Talkatone in the Apple App Store. What this app does, like GV Phone Extension, is allow you to use the native iPhone dialer to make Google Voice calls, rather than having to open a separate app.
