Pod2g has successfully implemented an untethered jailbreak of iOS 5, as this video demonstrates.

In earlier November, pod2g announced that he had found a bug that would be able to untether iOS 5.

Hey jailbreaking friends, I've found a bug that can untether iOS 5. Don't expect a release soon, but I'm gonna work hard in it.

It appears that his work has paid off; however, the untethered jailbreak isn't compatible with the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 just yet.

Tons of questions from my nice followers. Too early to answer. Will work on iOS 5.0.1, will try iPad 2 and 4S after others are ready.

But... I don't own a 4S nor I an iPad 2.

We would love to see this for 4S and an unlock but hey what can we expect for free? If they figure it out they figure it out if they don't then they don't. Stop complaining about what you don't have and be more appreciative of what they have done for years! You can also try to find an exploit yourself and share it all with us for free!!

Really? Are people so starve for a break that these Devs can say what they want for almost a year yet not deliver and yet still get defended as reliable? Years ago I would be on the front line myself but the track record lately states otherwise ... Guys deliver something other than videos or tweets please

This is very strange. Iphone 4 power button is on the top right and not on top left. In fact all iphone power button are on top right.

The fact that he was able to put 5.0+ on a IPOD 2ND GEN is remarkable becuz 5.0 isnt supported on ipod 2nd gen i think?

marco, that's an ipod touch... Also it is said that we need to update to 5.0.1 now before apple close that hole, but I have an iphone 4 running at 4.3.3 unlocked with ultrasn0w on 1.59 modem. I should wait for a sn0wbreeze or pwngtool to be released before updating or I could lose my unlock right? I don't think Cydia can save blobs for 5.0 or 5.0.1 unless you are on it...

Tinyumbrella do not save 5.0 either because they pull shsh blobs from cydia.... which I'm not on 5.0

You don't know what you're talking about. Cydia doesn't have SH blobs for 5.0+ because Apple change the signing method. TinyUmbrella DOES support 5.x & will pull the SH blobs direct from Apple servers. No need to have your phone on 5.x. TU is able to get 5.01 & 5.1b right now.

baxter, so do I just uncheck get shsh from cydia, and just use the one straight from apple?

Select the option "Save ALL Available SHSH".

baxter, that's what I did, I didn't see anything and using the latest umbrella too... do I need to leave the cydia checked or uncheck it...

I left Cydia checked and it picked up 5.01 & 5.1b1 for my 3GS. You can try various options & click "Save SHSH" each time. TU won't delete any existing SH blobs. Check the Log tab for exactly what it is doing & for any errors.

Baxter, are u already on 5.0 on ur 3gs? If u are then thats why it saved it for you! Im not on it yet, just 4.3.3

strange, but am I wrong or did he turned on his iphone on the top left side of it??? I think this is strange cause my iphone 4 the power button is on the top right!!! Is it different model that he is using on this video???

He used the ipod touch 4G which use the same hardware like the Iphone 4. We're all should appreciate all the work from the dev team. You don't pay them to get the thing done. So don't judge or rush them.
