Apple Officially Renames Mac OS X to Just OS X

Apple has officially renamed Mac OS X to just OS X with the release of OS X Mountain Lion, confirming the change to The Verge.

We confirmed the official name change with Apple, who told us that the preferred full name is "OS X Mountain Lion," and a quick look around the company's new Mountain Lion pages reveals that the tweak is already well in effect.


Despite the change Apple hasn't created a page www.apple.com/osx page; rather, you still need to navigate to www.apple.com/macosx.
