Pod2g, the hacker behind the iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreaks, has revealed that a public jailbreak for A5+ iOS 5.1 devices is at minimum weeks away.
"About 5.1 jailbreak for A5+ devices : it's not out and I have no clue when it'll happen. I'm working some hours per week on finding vulns."
"But right now we (cdev) have some pieces of a userland jailbreak, but we miss some, and even if we had them all, there's weeks of work..."
"... to put them all together in a public ready tool."
Although a jailbreak of iOS 5.1 has been demonstrated by several sources, I0n1c is the one who has demonstrated an untether. It appears he is unwilling to release his exploit to the public.

Whats your point? Even if it was, this is about 5.1 not 5.0.

Point is John Paul you can't read.... They lied about userland JB for 5.0 and this will also be a lie aslong they tied to apple... Come on guys how long did it take them to JB 5.0 MONTHS and now all of a sudden 5.1 was not out in two days and they said they found JB hmmm and another thing when that news came out apples sales of the new iPad trippled if not quadrupled!!!

I don't think the masses really care about this Jailbreak for A5, simply because we finally got one months back. Hence why don't see any comments bitching about useless updates on iClarified with a PWNAGE logo. Still appreciative of all the work the JB community, hackers, developers, etc...put in though

Probably why it's important we support the community as much as possible when we can, instead of flaming them.

Or the jailbreak was unstable.
He demonstrated it could be done there's a lot more to make it useful and easy to implement for the general public.
