T-Mobile has announced its earnings for the third quarter of 2013, revealing a net addition of more than one million customers.

T-Mobile reported more than 1 million net customer additions with 672,000 total branded net customer additions for the quarter, including branded postpaid net additions of 648,000 and branded prepaid net additions of 24,000. The branded postpaid net additions continue the strong momentum from the second quarter, driven by continued low branded postpaid churn of 1.7% and an 8% quarter-over-quarter increase in branded postpaid gross additions.

"T-Mobile's Un-carrier approach is resonating with consumers. We added more than 1 million customers and led the industry with 643,000 branded postpaid phone additions because we are fixing the things that drive customers crazy," said John Legere, President and CEO of T-Mobile. "Part of our customer momentum comes from the MetroPCS acquisition. With MetroPCS we are making great progress, including the planned additional expansion of the MetroPCS brand into another 15 additional markets by November 21. Our momentum is great and we have confidence that we can continue to deliver sustainable and profitable growth."

Total smartphone sales, including sales to branded prepaid customers, were a record 5.6 million units in the third quarter of 2013, equivalent to 88% of total units sold, up from 86% in the second quarter of 2013. This represents a penetration of 78% of the total branded customer base, up from 74% at the end of the second quarter of 2013.

Sales of iPhones represented about 15 percent of T-Mobile-brand smartphone sales, CMO Mike Sievert said. AllThingsD notes that since T-Mobile sold about 3.6 million smartphones under its own brand, it sold about 540,000 iPhones in the quarter.

Once T-Mobile gets that coverage right they will beat every carrier! My money is on T-Mobile even though I am currently stuck with Verizon but that ends shortly... ;)

Good job T-Mobile! I don't live in a rural area so I get pretty good reception and the internet speed is blazingly fast! I will soon combine my other lines to T-Mobile. Bye bye AT&T, you're way so expensive!

T-mobile is so far the best compared to other carrier. They introduced early upgrade and the other guys followed, now they have free 500mb free for life on th ipad. Without t-mobile, AT&T and Verizon would be sucking our money
