Volvo Demos Apple CarPlay in New Video [Watch]

Volvo has created a video demonstrating the new Apple CarPlay feature in its vehicles.

CarPlay gives iPhone users an intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music and access messages with just a word or a touch. Users can easily control CarPlay from the car’s native interface or just push-and-hold the voice control button on the steering wheel to activate Siri without distraction.

Vehicles from Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo will premiere CarPlay to their drivers this week, while additional auto manufacturers bringing CarPlay to their drivers down the road include BMW Group, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia Motors, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan Motor Company, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota Motor Corp.

The first Volvo car to offer Apple CarPlay will be the all new XC90 SUV which will be introduced later in 2014, one of the most anticipated cars of recent years, replacing the original XC90, which redefined the SUV and became the best selling model in Volvo Cars' history.

Finally some smart call regarding Apple's business. Google isn't so far away. The best thing Apple can do is create the same user experience that make iphone users love their iphones, mac users adore their mac. The challenge is that it'll be the first time the final or even the core product isn't entirely designed nor provided by Apple. Its a smart and challenging move

Another best thing is make things without turning to another company for help. Look at Samsung for example, a year too late after apple makes things they do after them and use it to mock apple for not being this creative. Microsoft on the other hand doesn't worry about their problems, just brag about the keyboard, USB port, and the unnecessary 41mp cam. The only thing though that's same about user experience with iOS is the icons.

anybody would disagree with you! Where's innovation? Do you even know what you are talking about ? Iphone communicating with other devices exists from long ago. on a more general point of you, smartphones communicating with cars, computers, tv, other smartphones, wirelessly, seamlessly exist already. There's nothing new in the use of CarPlay. What could be new, is the integration of very much various apps into the car such as Coyott and GPs app or even Evernote, i'd call that improvements, but it's still very far from changing the user experience so mch that you could qualify it an innovation.

Hello, anyone can disagree with you more, this is new because it doesn't require a battery, sure this runs like the way tablets do and phones, but all of it is stored in the car and it can't be stolen by thieves let's see your worshipping company do better than that.
