How To Take a Screenshot on iPhone [Video]

Here are four ways to take a screenshot on your iPhone: the buttons, Siri, Back Tap, and AssistiveTouch. You'll also see how to crop and save it, how to skip the full screen view, and where to find your screenshots later.

We tested each one on an iPhone 18 Pro Max running iOS 27.

Step One: Press the Side and Volume Up Buttons

Quickly press and release the side button and the volume up button at the same time.

Step Two: Crop Your Screenshot

Your screenshot opens full screen. To crop it, drag a corner.

Step Three: Save It to Photos

Tap the checkmark, then tap Save to Photos.

Step Four: Find It in Photos

Open Photos. Your screenshot is the newest item, at the bottom of your library.

Take a Screenshot on an iPhone With a Home Button

On iPhone 6, 6s, 7, 8 and iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation), press the side button and the Home button at the same time, then quickly let go of both.

Ask Siri to Take a Screenshot

Say "Siri, take a screenshot." Siri's screenshots skip the full screen view: a thumbnail appears in the lower-left corner and saves to Photos on its own.

Take a Screenshot by Double Tapping the Back of Your iPhone

Step One: Open Touch Settings

Open Settings, tap Accessibility, then Touch.

Step Two: Set Double Tap to Screenshot

Scroll down and select Back Tap, then Double Tap. Choose Device, then Screenshot, and tap the checkmark.

Step Three: Double Tap the Back

Now double tap the back of your iPhone. The screenshot shows as a thumbnail in the lower-left corner and saves on its own.

Take a Screenshot With AssistiveTouch

Step One: Turn On AssistiveTouch

In Settings, go to Accessibility, then Touch. Select AssistiveTouch and turn it on.

Step Two: Tap Device, More and Screenshot

Tap the button that appears, then Device, More, and Screenshot. The screenshot shows as a thumbnail in the lower-left corner and saves on its own.

Skip the Full Screen View

Step One: Open Screen Capture Settings

Open Settings, tap General, then Screen Capture.

Step Two: Turn Off Full-Screen Previews

Turn off Full-Screen Previews. Your screenshots will then show as a small thumbnail in the lower-left corner, and save on their own.

Find Your Screenshots in Photos

To see only your screenshots, open Photos, tap Collections, scroll down to Media Types, then tap Screenshots.

That sure is complicated. Well if you've the new 2.0 software update, apparently it works just by pressing the power and home buttons together. There's a trick if you're feeling mischievous as well. Once taking an image of a friend's homepage on his iphone, hand the iphone back to him. he'll think it's hung or something like that. one of those cheap thrills. Nice theme btw! :)
