T-Mobile Unveils 'Data Stash' Letting Customers Roll Over Unused Data

Posted December 16, 2014 at 4:59pm by iClarified
T-Mobile today announced that it will automatically roll your unused data into a personal 'Data Stash', letting use it when you need it for up to a year.

Data Stash is included at no extra charge for every single new and existing T-Mobile customer – individual, family or business – on an eligible postpaid Simple Choice plan who buys extra high-speed data for their smartphone or tablet.

In addition, T-Mobile announced they will start every Data Stash with 10 GB of 4G LTE data – for free.

“Can you imagine your gas station siphoning unused gas from your car each month? The US wireless industry is even worse,” said John Legere, president and CEO for T-Mobile. “Americans have been gamed by the carriers into buying huge data plans – all to avoid getting screwed with overage penalties. Only to find out they bought more than they need which is then confiscated by the carrier. For the consumer it’s lose, lose.

“That data is rightfully yours,” added Legere. “And, we’re putting an end to this appalling industry practice today. With Data Stash, when you buy additional high-speed data, there’s no need to lose what you don’t use.”

Starting in January 2015, Data Stash will be automatically available at no extra charge to every T-Mobile customer with a postpaid Simple Choice plan who has purchased additional 4G LTE data, 3GB or more for smartphones and 1 GB or more for tablets. Once you’ve used up that Free Data Stash, any unused high speed data − rounded up to the nearest megabyte – will start to roll into your Data Stash automatically every month. There’s no limit to how much data you can collect in your Data Stash. When you need extra high-speed data, you’ll automatically start tapping into your data deposits.

T-Mobile is also touting enhancements to its network:
● First, T-Mobile continues to grow its LTE footprint and now reaches more people than ever before − 260 million Americans coast to coast, expanding to reach an additional 10 million people in just the last 60 days.
● Second, on the heels of upgrading T-Mobile’s network to its ultra-fast Wideband LTE in New York, the Un-carrier now reaches 121 metropolitan areas across the country with Wideband LTE, giving customers more capacity and up to a 50 percent boost in speeds. Already, T-Mobile customers in the NYC metro area have reported download speeds in excess of an unprecedented 100 Mbps.
● Finally, T-Mobile announced that it has deployed its newly acquired 700Mhz spectrum in Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Minneapolis and Washington, D.C. boosting network reach, improving in-building coverage and extending coverage well beyond major population centers.

Ok they advertise for T-Mobile customers but never mention prepaid only. Does this apply to all customers? I feel lazy to ask.

Even with the additional lines being $40, its still cheaper than everyone else and its truly unlimited. Verizon and AT&T don't even offer any unlimited data plans. A four line family plan base rate would be $180 bringing each line to $45. Thats a good deal if you ask me. The data stash is cool especially for those who rarely use their lower gb data plans, but have a bucket of data when they need it

this plan is worse than the one they released a week ago, 50 dollars per line, unlimited tank text and 4g LTE, minimum 2 lines, 3rd line is 40, 4th 30 etc, so if you have 2 lines you will pay 50 each to get all unlimited, on the new one with the roll over bullshit, you need to have 3 gb that is required it will put you at 60 dollars per line. its all publicity non sense.

Useless, as most consumer buys only what they use. The wifi texting on airplanes can only be use if the other persons is aware of your settings versus just using iMessage or a free App. TMobile still has the worst customer service and they barely let alone speak English. I'm saying this as my family was part of TMobile but the treatments and having to be late a fees days means cutting you off or giving your number away is horrific from any business standpoint. TMobile sucks plain and simple!

How can anyone accept it like that? They abolished overages to get rid of fees, the wide and lte is coming soon and it's super perfect here in my area, hence even they are the cheapest, fastest, and most trusted after all the U carriers that have been announced. Comparing this to others is saying a lot. Not even close to useless or even a bit.

If you are on the promotional family plan of 2.5gb (like me), then you are getting that "free." The normal 1GB is the "free" option for all Simple Choice plans. The promotional 4.5GB for $10 is the minimum for roll-over I would assume.

It's considered beast mode in India but not in U.S. Its marketing ploys at best.

I was with ATT for 7 years and left them because of unlimited data throttling B.S. I'm glad I switched to TMobile and I couldn't be more happier with their true unlimited plan. My lifestyle fit their plan. I don't travel much and their coverage is great for me. TMobile listen to their customers need while other phone providers just about how much profit they can get out of people.
