Newly leaked photos allegedly of the iPhone 7 appear to reveal a touch sensitive home button. Posted by MobiPicker, the images of a white colored iPhone also have a repositioned front camera and proximity sensor.
Our source tells us that this button is perfectly in level with the rest of the bezel and cannot be pressed in. The button is touch-sensitive and users will have to perform tapping actions for various functions, like tap and hold for Siri, double tap to see the running apps, etc. The Touch ID might be significantly smoother and faster due to this change.

If this is anyway real then why in ios 10 on the lock screen it asks you once the screen comes on when you raise the device to "press home to unlock"

Doesn't look like iPhone though may be wrong. The main thing throwing me off is the " is it proximity sensor" doesn't look right plus different shape. Apples have always been circular.

Yeah that doesn't look like an iPhone. But the home button on the 6S & Plus is touch sensitive already. Double tap brings up reachability. So all they have to do is fiddle with the software.

what if it becomes the new force touch as an addition to all the features we had with it thus far?

This doesn't look like an iPhone. I guess it's another Chinese ripoff.

This doesn't look like an iPhone at all. But it wouldn't surprise me if the home button was touch sensitive with the introduction of "Raise to Wake" in iOS 10.
