Geohot has now updated BlackRa1n to work for the iPhone 4.0 firmware as well.
Just three days ago he announced that BlackRa1n was updated for the iPad 3.2 firmware.
If you are wondering about all these different jailbreaks and why none have been released yet, you may want to read this.

I donno if u feel like i do, but this is really frustrating !
Since there are many announcements we cannot tell which is true or not !
I entered to Geo's blog and couldn't find this picture anywhere !!! so where the heck they took this pic from !!!!
I know all folks in dev. teams are trying there best, and as I understand such job need alot of descrete. So it's too strange to see so much news for a discrete job !!
I think all these blogs and forums should stop writing till the true thing comes out.

Hello, JB CREW! First thing i would like to mention that it is really great to see that new OS is not yet out and it is already Jailbroken... My question for Geohot: Is this a non-thethered JB? Thanks!

Your reply is incorrect. This is from apple website:
"iPhone OS 4 Compatibility
iPhone OS 4 will work with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and the second- and third-generation iPod touch this summer, and with iPad in the fall. Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking is available only with iPhone 3GS and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009)."

But does this mean that I can update to 4.0 and jailbreak?

slevytam - April 12, 2010 at 12:53pm
No not yet. The tool has been updated to support iPhone OS 4.0 but will only be released at the optimal time to prevent Apple from blocking the jailbreak. Read the linked post.

Will his 4.0 jailbreak be like the 3.1.2 one where if your phone does reboot you need to re-jailbreak the phone?? If so why not fix that problem or attempt to kinda kills having a jailbroken iPhone if every time it reboots u need a computer

Don't worry. It will be untethered. You won't need your computer to boot up. Don't ask if I'm sure because I am. You just have to take my word for it.
