Apple to Release OLED MacBook Air and iPad Pros in 2024 [Analyst]

Apple is still planning to release an OLED MacBook Air, an OLED 11-inch iPad Pro, and an OLED 12.9-inch iPad Pro in 2024, according to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).

OLED displays offer users superior image quality. Each pixel can be turned off individually for perfect black levels and lower power consumption. However, mini-LED displays, which use a backlight, provide higher brightness levels that are beneficial to portable devices.

Samsung has reportedly begun development of two-stack tandem structure OLED panels having two emission layers (EML). This two-stack structure is said to double the brightness of the OLED panel, while quadrupling its life span.

It's believed that Apple has already been in talks with Samsung and other South Korean suppliers to use these two stack tandem OLED panels for future iPads and MacBooks.
